Check for Power and Loose Connections

Every range needs electricity even it is a gas range to spark the igniter. To light the range burner, the igniter should receive power and make sure there is no loose connection of the igniter. Hence, you have to check the power to Frigidaire range and igniter connections.

Check circuit breaker switch and fuse. If the breaker switch is flipped, you will need to restore it to the proper position. Replace the fuse if it is blown. Now, test the burner

Ensure the range is plugged in properly into the wall outlet. It should be plugged in without any extension cords.

Next, test the igniter connections. Disconnect stove/ range from the power source. Separate the grate as well as the burner cap from the burner. Now, see for disconnected wires by removing the burner base. If you notice any loose connections, reconnect them. Be sure that all existing connections are secure.

After that, replace the removed burner base, cap, and grate. Power back on to the appliance and test the burner again.

Clean your Range Burner

Is your gas stove clicking but not lighting? Check for a dirty burner. Reasons behind your range burner won't light might be accumulated dirt, grease, and food particles. Cooking byproducts can build up and clog burner components that result in your burner doesn't light. Just follow the regular maintenance and cleaning of the range. Your cleaning should include the burner and it's components cleaning.

How to clean the burner?

You can check the manual for specific instructions and recommended products for Frigidaire range burner cleaning.

  • Remove the burner caps and heads.
  • Soak range burner caps and heads in warm soapy water for 20 to 30 minutes.
  • After that, scrub the burner components with a scrubbing pad. You can use a toothbrush to remove debris.
  • If burner ports are clogged, with a straightened paperclip to remove any debris. For removing stubborn stains, use a paste of baking soda and water. You will take these two as one part each to make a paste.
  • Now, rinse all components thoroughly under tap water. Let them air dry completely. Your range burner will not light if excess moisture remains in the parts.
  • Once all burner components are dry, you have to reassemble and test the burner.

Replace Broken Frigidaire Range Igniter

If the above troubleshooting steps are not helped to fix the problem, then think about the broken igniter. The igniter is used to sparks to light the gas in the burner assembly.

When the igniter is worn out, it will produce a spark that is too weak to light burner or no spark at all. You can hear the stove clicking but not igniting if you try to turn on the burner. You can't repair the broken igniter, it needs to be replaced.

Frigidaire Stove Troubleshooting

Frigidaire stove problems include baking problems and functionality problems with the range itself. Most problems can easily be fixed with a little troubleshooting that can save your money and time.

You should preheat the oven when you start cooking. If biscuits and cookies burn on the bottom, make sure the rack is not overcrowded. As dark pans absorb heat quickly, it's better to try a light-colored pan. And, leave about 2 - 4 inches of air around the pans.

If cakes are too dark on the top or bottom, you need to adjust the rack position. The oven should not be too hot. Make sure the oven reaches the preferred temperature before placing the items in the oven. If the problem persists, set your oven temperature lower than what your recipe calls.

Check the level of the range. If cakes are not cooked properly, you have to adjust pan to the center.

Inspect the pan closely. Ensure that it is not warped if you continue to have baking problems. Switch on the oven at the wall. The gas supply should be in condition if the stove won't run at all. To check the power supply, try with other lights in the house.

Ensure the cleaning cycle was not interrupted if the cleaning is not acceptable. The bottom front, top of the oven, and door areas outside the Frigidaire oven seal are not in the cleaning area. You need to clean these with your hands.

Oven Takes Long Time to Preheat

When heating elements in the oven become faulty, the oven takes extra time to preheat. Follow the below steps for Frigidaire oven troubleshooting.

Turn the oven on and check if the heating element has an uneven coloring when it starts to heat up. On the element, cold spots show up as dark patches that indicate your appliance will no longer work properly. If this is the case, you have to replace the element to solve the issue.

Check the oven door if it has gaps and bends. While preheating, the heat will escape from the oven with the door which has gaps or bends. You have to replace the door seal with a new one. Make sure it needs to be replaced with a door gasket designed for your specific model.
