The purpose of the GE microwave monitor switch is to act as a safety device to prevent the magnetron from being energised while the door is open. The door latch and switches in microwaves are designed so that, if everything is working correctly, the monitor switch should never be closed at the same time as the interlock switches. You will find the door switch by removing the screws that attach the switch assembly. The other part of the switch product was made of high-quality plastic.
