A halogen bulb is a type of incandescent lamp that uses halogen gas in order to increase both light output and rated life. Due to the high temperature generated inside an oven, a halogen or incandescent light bulb can be relied on to operate up to 300 °C. A GE halogen bulb is also used in some microwave ovens. They are known for having a moderately high efficiency, quality of light, and rated life compared to regular incandescent lamps.
